Asus Laptop Repair Dallas

PC Virus Doctors' Dallas Computer Repair has recently accepted an Asus laptop for diagnostics and repair for a reported, potential virus removal in Dallas. The Asus notebook would boot into the blue screen of death in Windows boot and in safe-mode. The drive was then pulled and slaved to another computer system which reported the drive with absolutely no data available and a message from Windows when the drive was clicked that the "drive needs to be formatted".

PC Virus Doctors was aware that the Asus hard drive had data the customer needed so no further action was taken on the slaved drive. A data analysis in the Dallas Data Recovery room revealed no available data. Diagnostics was then performed on the Asus laptop that immediately started reporting bad sectors on the hard drive and the diagnostics ended with an abundance of bad sectors on the drive. Further diagnostics were performed that indicated the processor was OK and the motherboard was OK but further analysis indicated the RAM/memory was bad on the Asus.

The final analysis is that at times malware or trojans/viruses may be the issue but hardware problems may be the culprit until full diagnostics are performed. Users needing Asus laptop repairs in Dallas should call PC Virus Doctors for full diagnostics and repairs.

Anonymous Gets NATO Attention

A hacker group has been identified by NATO as serious of enough threat to go to war it seams. A report by the NATO Information and Security sector seem to be upset with certain hacker groups. New reports say that an infamous hacker group is now the target of NATO. The hack group has been involved with adversary groups since at least 2007 or 2008. The group members or supporter wear similar, uniformed, joker-style masks over their faces concealing their identity. NATO is very serious about this hacker group and it appears is desperate to take it down.

Anonymous, evidently will not or cannot take a head count or number of servers account, right?

Laptop Repair Dallas- Hard Drive Repairs

Hard drive failure is common in older PCs and laptops which was evident recently with an HP hv6000 laptop. These type drives are an affordable repair, actually replacement, that generally greatly improves performance with a new drive versus a failing drive. PCVD can easily replace drives and copy the old information from the original drive for a reasonable price.

Data can also be copied to a customers external drive then a new operating system can be installed with the latest antivirus programs and malware scanners then updated with the latest security signatures. The data copied to the external drive will assist the new drive with more available drive space and less files to handle which has the potential for significant performance.

Solid-state drives are quickly emerging with more reasonably data storage on laptop drives that currently may be found for around $120 for a 64Gb drive. The life on these drives are definitely longer but of course need to be taken care of physically, meaning limited blunt-force, keeping the unit dry, etc. Also, the new solid-state drives would still be subject to malware.

Computer Repair- Spawning Cookies

PC Virus Doctors have been aware of the privacy issues concerning many of the cookies that have proliferated the internet for years. The latest cookies of concern are the Flash cookies that are used by Adobe Flash Player. Privacy advocates have been particularly concerned with Flash cookies because of their difficulty in removal and because some Flash cookies are "Spawning Cookies" that will restart webpages once Flash Player has been closed.

The Spawning Cookies will reload even after deletion, according to a news article by Telecompaper. The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Netherlands strongly rebuked such tactics and urges that Spawning Cookies not be used by companies. IAB went further, "and said re-spawning was illegal under existing EU and national data protection rules."

Adobe Flash Player 10.3 has just been released that integrates into web browsers that allows for easy Flash cookie deletion that the FTC has urged and pointed out Adobe to address the privacy concerns/issues. The new Flash player works cross platform on Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Android OS's.

A simple computer repair is to use the powerful Flash cookie deletion tool, Click&Clean, that can be integrated with CCleaner. Below is the following link to get you started in Flash privacy:

Sony PlayStation Networked Attack Linked to Amazon EC2

PC Virus Doctors' Computer Repair in Dallas has learned that the Amazon EC2, Elastic Computing Cloud, was suspicioned to be involved in the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) against Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN) creating the second largest security breach in U.S. history. The breach affected more than 100 million customers second to Heartland Payment Systems breach in 2009.

The Amazon servers were not hacked but actually purchased for pennies an hour that allowed a hacker access to Amazon servers to then attack the PSN; the attacker's Amazon account has since been suspended. Sony just restarted their PlayStation network yesterday, May 14 after it was shut down on April 20th. Amazon is not responding to any requests about the allegations that their servers were involved in the attack and neither is the FBI responding to any information about the incident(s), according to the Bloomberg article.

Cloud servers are an ideal vehicle as they can facilitate such hacking activities while the cloud servers have difficulty detecting the good guys and the bad guys. Sony reports that the attack was professional and very sophisticated while 31% of cyber attacks occur in the United States up from 24% last year and 85% of U.S. businesses have been attacked according to Ponemon Institute.

Computer Repair- Rogue Vista Home Security 2011

PC Virus Doctors' Computer Repair has ventured across another rogue Microsoft program titled, "Vista Home Security 2011" that once again is difficult to remove. The fake program masquerades as a legitimate Microsoft product but infected users will quickly understand that the program is not legitimate by the way it behaves. The program disallows startup of previously installed legitimate malware removers making the virus removal challenging.

Viruses and other malware continue to be an ongoing threat in the internet community and is not letting off with new malware packages being distributed regularly. Even with the most advanced firewalls malware can sneak by especially with "zero-day" exploits that is malware released without any previous knowledge of its workings by anti-malware vendors as it is a "new release".

Users experiencing this fake Microsoft program may contact PC Virus Doctors @ (214) 723-4335 for immediate assistance.

Computer Repair Dallas- Malware Removal

Another rogue Microsoft program has emerged called "Windows Recovery". The fake program feigns as a savior for damaged systems yet it hogs system resources and will not stop scanning for "problems" until it has finished, at times. The program will stop updates on malware removers, will prevent new malware removers from being installed and will not let current anti-malware programs to execute.

The program surreptiousely installed on a customers computer without giving a "warning" but silently installed during an "adobe update", mostly likely a hacked legitimate website or a website intended for distributing malware by luring web surfers to it by optimized content in order to attract particular users to high profile subjects or topics.

Web users must be very careful before surfing to any website that offers tempting offers (too good to be true) or high profile tempestuous pictures and graphics/media.

Avoid virus removals by looking at the domain address of links by hovering over them and looking in the lower left of the browser which shows the address in the beige lower bar of Windows Internet Explorer.

Computer and laptop users needing help removing the fake Microsoft Windows Recovery may call  our Dallas computer support.

Sony PlayStation Network Threatened With More DDOS

A hacker group has denied that it attacked Sony's PlayStation Network with a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). PC Virus Doctors' Computer Repair Dallas ponders if an off-shoot of the infamous hacker group has launched the Sony attack. The attack left the game network offline for over a week.

The attack was two-prong that first launched the DDoS attack that pings servers repeatedly and quickly by a botnet, a huge network of infected computers, that can be controlled to point to different servers and domain names making access by the public impossible because of the traffic congestion.

The second phase was to enter the Sony network servers that stored customer data that was then breached. The threat may be real or not and their next intentions are unknown. If hackers can access the servers then anything may be possible including spreading viruses.

U.S. Bank Accounts Siphoned to China by Cyber Criminals

PC Virus Doctors' Dallas Computer Repair is hardly shocked to learn that millions of American dollars has been siphoned off to Chinese cyber criminals, according to an article on BankInfoSecurity.com. There were 20 incidents that were involved in Chinese wire fraud between March '10 and April '11 ranging from under $100,000 to just under a million dollars.

The FBI has issued advisory warning to the latest attacks which deploy phishing attacks. Zeus, Spybot and backdor.bot are deployed through emails or visiting an infected website where the malware is downloaded and installed. After the malware installation, other malware may be downloaded and the machine is now readied for remote control.

The malware now can log keystrokes, gather bank information and steal tokin id's in order to successfully act as if the wire transfers are actually intitiated by the victim and sent to the perpetrators in China who are situated in port cities close to Russia.

Dallas Computer Repair recommends constantly updated the latest virus and anti-malware signatures in order to have the best computer defense as possible.

Cyber Attack- Iran Finds Second Virus- Stars

Iran has identified a second virus that they have named 'Stars', Yahoo reports. The head of the Iranian military unit in charge of combatting sabotage, Gholam Reza Jalali, says that their experts have not finalized the analysis of the "espionage virus" they call "Stars". Jalali did not report what facilities or equipment the malware targeted or when it was first detected.

Jalali, head of the "Passive Defense" unit dealing mainly with counter sabotage, downplayed the payload, a virus term meaning the destructive properties of the malware. Jalali did report that initially the virus would deliver minimal damage and the file may be mistaken for executable government organization files.

Jalali also reports that a second unit has been setup by Iran's Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications to disseminate the malware and fully examine the delivery and payload of the destructive virus.

Last year, Stuxnet, a powerfully destructive worm, hit the nuclear facilities in Iran that had the potential to completely shut down the centrifuges that make the uranium. Iran has said it has identified the malware/virus/worm authors as coming from two countries, the United States and Israel. Jalali reports that Stuxnet had the ability to cause a large-scale industrial accident and the potential for loss of life.

Stuxnet's payload was to play back pre-recorded data that was then monitored by machine and human while the centrifuges starting spinning faster and faster that would overload the physical machines and cause overheating and eventual failure.

PC Virus Doctors wonders if the name "Stars" for the virus was actually what they saw when they discovered the malware residing on the Iranian computers.

iPhone Tracking Data Deletion Tool

Much information has emerged over the last several days in relation to iPhones and iPads tracking user data location and logging and mapping data points over time. One new iphone app has come forth from Canadian Ryan Petrich, a programmer according to Cnet, who quickly came to the rescue for privacy rights. The application only works on jail-broken iPhones, however.

The application may be downloaded from a link in the Cnet article. The program is an unofficial Apple App that is not available through Apple's official store. The Apple app runs in a "daemon" environment that runs in the background consistantly deleting the "consolidated.db" tracking data file. The U.S. Senators and Representatives of Congress that have taken issue with Apple and Steve Jobs for storing tracking data but these type of available 'data deletion programs' should give Congress some type of "fix" if the data tracking files are deemed invasive.

iPhone and iPad users may also find positive features to the GPS data tracking:
  • parents could monitor children's whereabouts
  • if Apple iPhone or iPad users are victimized it could possibly help in solving crimes because of the absolute proof at "approximately" the time and location of the i-device during specified time lapses.
  • if the Apple tech device is stolen and later retrieved the criminal and his known associates could be identified
  • Apple users could "prove" to their employeer where they were during certain times if outside the office
  • Users could log their "mileage"

We are curious why no similar option for data tracking deletion is built-in to the iOS4.

Coreflood Reminder and Fix

Users need beware and continue to lookout for botnets and to ensure our PCs are not infected by updating and running antimalware and antivirus scanners, the more the better. Several legitmate malware scanners and antivirus scanners that can run independently will significantly reduce the numbers of malware.

The U.S. Government stepped in to dismantle the malware installed on U.S. citizens which appears to be unprecedented according to an article on Wired.com. It appears that ISC.org took controls over from the originating server to mimic them and then send a "shutdown command" to all the client/individual PCs over the internet.

According to Wired.com, the infected owners of the offending computers will be notified of the infection and removal instructions.

PC Virus Doctors' Dallas Computer Repair recommends the following to get rid of the botnet worm/malware by downloading, updating and scanning with:
Users having problems with Coreflood are welcome to call PC Virus Doctors.

Dallas Computer Repair- Power Supply Replacement

PCVD's Dallas Computer Repair can help assist in times of power failure with desktops in diagnosing power supply (P/S) failure. If the power supply fails and there is no lights on the front chassis of the computer OR the motherboard then it is time for the ultimate test. The following steps call for a known-working power supply with the minimum amount of wattage, preferably 350 watts to be safe, just for testing purposes but not full-out performance.

NOTE: the old style power connectors to peripherals around the motherboard connected by cable have the 4-pin connection. The newer style power connections are "L" shaped.

***NOW DISCONNECT THE POWER CORD FROM THE POWER SUPPLY (P/S):

The next step is to take a preliminary assessment where the power cords connect from the power supply and connect to the peripherals surrounding the motherboard, such as:

  • DVD or CD drives
  • hard drive(s)
  • ATX main power cord
  • 4-pin port

*Users can accomplish each step by aligning the new power supply on the computer laid on its side and removing each connection one at a time and replacing each connection with the new power supply one at a time.

The physical access to the internal personal computer may be accomplished by:

  1. Identifying the entry into the inside whether by screws or a "latch" located on the top, back (the power supply side) or possibly the top and bottom latches compressed simultaneously. Remove these screws on ONE side of the computer to access the interior or depress the latch(es) to remove the panel to the chassis; MOST OFTEN THE LEFT PANEL IF THE PC IS FACING FORWARD.
  2. Disconnect the top power connector on the interior front panel of the desktop, regardless if its a 4-pin or SATA power connector, and label if needed (the top most powered peripheral should be the DVD or CD drive). You will most likely have one or two DVD or CD player/recorders.
  3. Working from the top of the computer down, after the top drives, listed in the above step #2, then we disconnect the power from the hard drives that hold the data; once again the same type "L" connector, just pull gently but firmly.
  4. Next is the ATX or similar power connector to the motherboard that is a cable with around 16 wires going into a long, rectangular connector. [A] DEPRESS the clip that secures the wire harness to the motherboard. **Note how this connector is connected. [B] there may be a second 4-pin connector that completes the power connection to the motherboard that is located directly next to the larger power harness noted in [A].
  5. There is another 4-pin connector located around the CPU that needs to be disconnected also.

The power may now be plugged into the power supply and tested.

***BE SURE EVERYTHING IS PLUGGED IN SECURELY AND GROUNDED.***

Remember if there is a power issue or power supply failure, it could effect the hard drive and data recovery may be in the forecast.

Any computer problems call Computer Repair Dallas.

IE9 Not Supported for XP

IE9 is not XP compatible: PC Virus Doctors are sad to announce that IE9, Internet Explorer 9, will not be available to XP users. It is our utmost regret this has happened but according to others it is time to upgrade Microsoft operating systems and go to Windows 7. Our Dallas Computer Repair Shop always made sure all XP users had the latest Windows browser but the last version compatible for XP, IE8, will be the last available Internet Explorer version available.

PC Virus Doctors have found reasonably priced Windows 7 operating systems (OS) for sale, however, your hardware is best to be "up-to-date" in order to accommodate the OS. Windows 7 is not so compatible with hardware that is antiquated. It is time to bear all, personal computer users and home office professionals.

If your hardware, meaning, printer, plotter, external drive cases, etc,, will not be recognized in the new system or if recognized will not perform properly then you should update the hardware to avoid a painful experience of configuration. If you encounter compatibility issues with Win 7 and your system then call us.

Windows Repair- Rogue Microsoft Program

PC Virus Doctors' computer repair in Dallas recently encountered Windows Repair, a fake Microsoft product on a Hewlett-Packard laptop. The malware was particularly difficult as it was accompanied with a rootkit and what appears to be dirty code that knocked out part of the file table structure leaving blank folders although the information was there and able to be accessed through our proprietary means.

This rogue program attempts to imitate Microsoft products but after a few minutes users understand that this is bribeware that is attempting to extort money from unknowing users.

The NTFS was in such bad shape that data recovery had to be performed. Also, the recovery disk would not install so the next move is to wipe the data and attempt a reinstall.

Dallas Computer Repair- Update Java

PC Virus Doctors' Dallas PC Repair has encountered another Dell laptop that appears to have been infiltrated by Java exploits since the computer was never allowed to update Java.

Its is important to make sure that Java is allowed to update since cybercriminals use Java to introduce unwanted, malicious programs in systems. If you see the Java icon in your task manager flashing then please allow the update to secure your computer system.

Stuxnet Worm Raising Its Ugly Head?

Interesting enough, PC Virus Doctors are trying to track down the story from the internet about Stuxnet worm possibly being involved with Iran's nuclear facility taking their nuclear payload offline. It seems the story has disappeared as this story is about to go live; interesting.

Once again before this post is published the news stories relating to Iran taking the nuclear rods from the reactors has disappeared from news stories, hidden, as far as PC Virus Doctors are able to discern.

How Egyptions Stayed Connected

The Egyptians still had a few ways to communicate although they were struck down by lack of internet due to the Government demanding the ISPs cut the channels. Several old school ways of communication allowed the few dedicated techs to accomplish 'work-arounds' to the blacked out internet.

One of the old school ways was to revert to ham radio which allows voice and also data communications although data can be much slower than through wires. Another old school technique was for the Egyptians to resort to dial-up where they were able to connect through outside connections.

A set of instructions was available on 24-7israel.com. The dialup connections allowed some Egyptians to remain connected if they were able to access the dialup information or have it delivered to them via ham radio or a set of instructions printed and hand-delivered.

The crisis that appears to be continuing although the internet has reportedly been restored. Perhaps now they are able to restore and repair their computers if they received cyber attacks prior to the internet going down. They can download antimalware signatures and perform computer repair and laptop repair if the opposition was able to successfully infect and damage computers before chaos errupted.

Beware of Valentine Spam

Valentine spam has already began as reported in a blog on Symantec's website. PC Virus Doctors would also like to warn about possible malicious scripts buried in the emails that may deliver malware. Once an email is opened the script is generated that can be the beginning of the end if users do not have proper anti-virus or other anti-malware installed to notify users of potential problems or to actually stop malicious activities before they have a chance to gain foothold.

A good practice is to not allow oneself to be duped by emails or tempted to open them by just checking those boxes and reporting them as spam or simply deleting unsolicited emails. Refraining from these 'tempting Valentine's offers' may easily save a computer repair or laptop repair.

Intel Reports Sandy Bridge Recall

Intel is recalling the Sandy Bridge chip, according to an article by the Guardian. It is reported that Intel may have to spend up to One Billion Dollars to repair the design flaw. The setback will affect hundreds of models of computers and the delay will last about three months.

Sandy Bridge combines processing power and graphics into one chip but the flaw would eventually affect DVD drives and hard drives, according to the article. The chip's design flaw effects more than 500 models and is slowing the current downturn of new computer purchases in the Unites States and other regions.

Intel reports that 5% of the processors would have caused failure over a three year period if the flaw had gone unnoticed, according to the Guardian. The new silicon chips must be redesigned and manufactured so the newly designed chip will most likely not be available until April.

If Intel had not corrected the design flaw in the Sandy Bridge chip it would have led to inevitable computer repair and laptop repair.

Antivirus.net- Rogue Antivirus

PC Virus Doctors' Computer Repair has ventured across another rogue antivirus called Antivirus.net on a laptop repair. This fake antivirus is stealthy and it appears it entered the system via a Java exploit. One clue is that Java reports that updates are available, however, Java will not update nor will Windows 7 allow Java to be uninstalled.

Another characteristic of Antivirus.net is that Internet Explorer (IE) would not connect to the internet and only some antimalware programs would install while others would not install. Also Kaspersky would not uninstall even with Kaspersky's removal tool.

Disk checks can sometimes get users out of jams and helps to avoid PC repairs. Sometimes the system files can get corrupted and not allow some of the functions like the above problems.

Add to Egypt's Great Dead- the Internet

Security sources confirm that Egypt's shutting down of their internet is the world's worst in internet history. 97% if the internet has been severed in Egypt which has disrupted social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter but the cell phone service has also lost signal. The only carrier supplying any internet capability at this time is the Noor Group which supposedly connects Egypt's Government and banking organizations to the world wide web.

The internet was cut off Thursday at 2234 GMT simultaneously with four major internet providers whom have said they have a legal obligation to respond to such requests. World leaders have urged Egypt to restore the internet and the social networking sites but it appears the country's leader is ignoring any requests. The unrest continues as people are defying curfews to protest.

The implications are great as not only social networking sites are down but also the ability to communicate in times of health and welfare.

Also people referring to the internet to do business and carry-on business has been disrupted which could have devastating effects on the economy. PC Virus Doctors depend on the internet to perform computer repair and laptop repair on software systems and we would also be crippled if such events took place.

Open Source Internet Security Suite- FREE

PC Virus Doctors' Computer Repair is constantly on the lookout and spreading the word about freeware and keeping computers as locked down and secure as possible as security threats loom about. ClamWin has always been suggested as a 2nd backup antivirus if pc users are utilizing another free edition of a proprietary antivirus.
An open source internet security suite is Spyware Terminator and ClamWin that can be integrated allowing HIPS, a Host Intrusion Protection System; this system notifies users when exectubles are activiting during normal computer use. Users may then examine the exectuble(s) and have the choice to either allow or disallow.
Here is how to get this exciting open source internet security suite for free:
  1. Download ClamWin
  2. Install and Update ClamWin
  3. Install Spyware Terminator
  4. Now Integrate ClamWin into Spyware Terminator within the GUI (Graphics User Interface) of Spyware Terminator.
Both programs may be configured to update at your particular time of day that you may be on the internet and both programs can be configured to automatically scan your system when users' desire unlike other antimalware freeware programs.
Spyware Terminator also has a security feature, "Web Security Guard" that incorporates incorporates into Internet Explorer (IE) or Firefox that may also easily be enable or disabled.
This is a cool little addition to have ready in case of a web attack while utilizing other security tools to make sure one can keep their PC running while defending against aggresive malware.
These open source tools are licensed for business and personal machines so be sure and install your new open source internet security suite for extra safety. This is a cheaper security solution versus a computer repair or laptop repair.

Flash Cookies- Privacy Concerns

Lawsuits are being filed against some companies utilizing flash cookies and storing them on personal computers without the knowledge of web surfers. The flash cookies are stored in separate locations unlike html cookies that can be controlled and deleted by users in browser settings, according to a NY Times report on flash cookies.

PC Virus Doctors' Computer Support always clean cookies from users machines during malware removal and now will check to make sure all flash cookies are removed to the best of our ability. Many times their are several gigabytes of tracking cookies deleted that can eventually slow computers due to the shear number of cookies which can be tens of thousands.

Some media companies are tracking users across multiple websites and the technology also is involved in mobile media where they track web surfers on their cellphones.

PC Virus Doctors' Computer Repair are testing a flash cookie remover that can be added on to CCleaner, called Click & Clean from HotCleaner.com and listed below if readers would like to try it. There are other versions available also for Chrome browsers and Firefox browsers that may be installed as add-ons.

Scan PDF Files for Trojans and Other Malware

Scan .pdf files for trojans and other malware. The MSNBC story reports that Symantec found 36% of malicious code delivered came from .pdf documents. Once opened, the code injects itself into the operating system using Java script.

One of the most damaging attacks using .pdf documents is Zeus which hides until users go to their bank accounts. Zeus then records all the banking information, after the banking session, Zeus then has money forwarded from the bank account to the cybercriminal.

*To scan .pdf files users should be able to right click the file and then scan it with an antivirus or anti-malware program to check for infections.

PC users needing assistance can always contact PC Virus Doctors' Dallas Virus Removal.

Stuxnet- Worm Dissected

Stuxnet, the computer worm damaging Iran's Nuclear Facility, is being dissected and is still amazing in its stealth and ingenous abilities according to the New York Times. The worm is reported to be a possible U.S. joint Israeli effort to derail or slow the Iranian nuclear ambition to create a nuclear bomb that Iran maintains is false. The Time reports that the digital trail appears to trace across several continents with which appears to have several authors contributing to Stuxnet.

Siemens, a German industrial manufacturer, allegedly manufactured the machines the Iranian's are using to develop nuclear energy. Idaho Naltional Laboratories, a United States Energy Department firm, appears to have examined the computer controllers of the Siemens' machines where it is speculated that they identified some hard to find holes that may have been exploited for use with the Stuxnet worm.

The Iranian's, according the the Times areticle, are trying to create nuclear facilities similar to Israel's who has continued to deny it has nuclear weapons.

Apparently 1/5 of Iran's Nuke facility has been damaged or destroyed by the stuxnet worm. Dallas Computer and Laptop Repair is concerned about such destruction but it appears to be isolated only to Siemens machine controllers and not other hardware distributed by other desktop or laptop manufacturers such as Dell.

Hard to Find Drivers for Laptops and Desktops

Drivers can be difficult to find and match with the particular hardware and operating systems being utilized simultaneously needing specific drivers to run the peripherals on the computer machines.

The first step is to go to the manufacturers website and going to their "support" or "driver downloads" or "support and drivers" or verbage that is similart.

Once computer users locate the area where desktop and laptop manufacturers offer their drivers one must enter that they are:
  • Using desktops or laptops
  • Identify the operating system
  • Identify the model number
  • Identify the hardware on the laptop or desktop that the drivers operate
Many times the necessary drivers are not listed in the list of drivers for particular models and it may be necessary to go to the laptop or desktop manufacturers hardware's website.

PC Virus Doctors are going to bring more online help that will help for driver installations.

Old Hard Drives- Clone Drives

PC Virus Doctors' are recommending cloning drives that are 2-3 years old because of the bad sectors that develop on the platters that are storing the digital data before data is lost and data recovery. Once bad sectors develop on these old hard drives it becomes a "domino affect" where the drive will slowly deteriorate and degrade. Once this happens the only "repair" is to replace the drive.

Dallas Computer Repair is recommending moving data from infected drives over to new installed drives after the data has been scanned and is cleaned from malware. These old hard drives may and often will not survive long scans and the malware authors infect these drives where they will not be viewable if slaved to other computer systems for cleaning.

Dallas Laptop and Dallas Computer Repair recommends replace hard drives every 2-3 years to avoid pain and loss of data which is often family pictures, business data, etc.

Cloned drives will look exactly like the old drive that is replaced including all the data and drivers. Users will never notice a change with the new drive for the exception that the desktop or laptop runs much better.

Antivirus IS Basic- Rogue Program

Rogue Antivirus' can be extremely difficult to remove at times and Antivirus IS Basic is a rogue program that falls into the difficulty category.

The laptop recently worked on was infected with three rogue programs, that's right, three. Many of the security vendors do not have a fix on the current rogue malware version that PC Virus Doctors is about to clean and remove so we are using independent tools not commercially available.

Several commercial vendors either do not find the rogue malware or Windows reports the other commercial antimalware scans have stopped.

The scanning and cleaning are slowly about to come about and the files have been found, now it is just a matter of eradication.

REMEMBER> Keep ALL Your Tools Updated.

This is a previous customer who deleted all of the programs PC Virus Doctors gave to him except one that was updated 3 months ago. Had the customer updated his antivirus and antimalware he should have been able to get rid of Antivirus IS Basic on his own. Call PC Virus Doctor's to remove rogue programs proclaiming to belong to Microsoft.

Intel Sporting New Chip- Sandy Bridge

CNN.net reports that Intel is rolling out what it calls the next generation, 2nd generation Intel Core Chip, Sandy Bridge. This chip will integrate the graphics processor into the main processor. The new technology would eliminate 3rd party graphics vendors such as NVidia, Advanced Micro Devices and others potentially.

Dallas Laptop- PC Support hopes Intel can keep the temperatures at a minimum or the computer manufacturers also take note and provide plenty of fan and cool temperature issues addresses properly to keep the laptops temperature as cool as possible.

Moscow Spammer Arrested in U.S.

Spammer MasterMind Busted

A vacationing or business trip took a man to jail for spamming. The 23 year old Moscow resident is reported to have been under investigation since 2007 and has ended up in Federal Court in Wisconsin. The botnet "Mega-D" is the catalyst the spammer used to gather computers into a botnet to send the reported millions up to billions alleged messages per day, accounting for 32% of the world's spam (?...really, one-third of emails?). Supposedly he is the "mastermind" behind the indulgence of email spam.

The alleged emails sent by alleged subject was reported at around ten billion daily. Supposedly the botnets were used to sell counterfeit goods.
