Scan PDF Files for Trojans and Other Malware

Scan .pdf files for trojans and other malware. The MSNBC story reports that Symantec found 36% of malicious code delivered came from .pdf documents. Once opened, the code injects itself into the operating system using Java script.

One of the most damaging attacks using .pdf documents is Zeus which hides until users go to their bank accounts. Zeus then records all the banking information, after the banking session, Zeus then has money forwarded from the bank account to the cybercriminal.

*To scan .pdf files users should be able to right click the file and then scan it with an antivirus or anti-malware program to check for infections.
