Computer Maintenaince- Disk Check with Microsoft XP

Microsoft Operating Disk Checks should be performed monthly, advised by PC Virus Doctors. The drive repair can be done several different methods but one of the easiest methods is to disk chick is:

  1. Go to "Start" and left click
  2. then go to "Computer" and left click, now you should see all your 'drives' in Explorer
  3. Right click the drive you wish to repair (if not technically savvy your "C" drive should be the most concerned with to begin and continue with additional drives if needed).
  4. Go down to "Properties"
  5. Then up to the "Tools" tab
  6. Then open the radial button entitled, "Check Now"
  7. Check the "Automatically fix file system errors" next
  8. Check the "Scan for and attempt repair of bad sector errors"
  9. You should now receive the '....would you like to schedule a disk check'
  10. Click "Yes"
  11. Now go to "Start"
  12. Then to "Turn Off Computer" on the right
  13. Now click "Restart" and the computer/laptop will reboot
This may take some time and is recommended to do overnight because of time to "repair" may be several hours.
