Antivirus.net- Rogue Antivirus

PC Virus Doctors' Computer Repair has ventured across another rogue antivirus called Antivirus.net on a laptop repair. This fake antivirus is stealthy and it appears it entered the system via a Java exploit. One clue is that Java reports that updates are available, however, Java will not update nor will Windows 7 allow Java to be uninstalled.

Another characteristic of Antivirus.net is that Internet Explorer (IE) would not connect to the internet and only some antimalware programs would install while others would not install. Also Kaspersky would not uninstall even with Kaspersky's removal tool.

Disk checks can sometimes get users out of jams and helps to avoid PC repairs. Sometimes the system files can get corrupted and not allow some of the functions like the above problems.

Security sources confirm that Egypt's shutting down of their internet is the world's worst in internet history. 97% if the internet has been severed in Egypt which has disrupted social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter but the cell phone service has also lost signal. The internet was cut off Thursday at 2234 GMT simultaneously with four major internet providers whom have said they have a legal obligation to respond to such requests. World leaders have urged Egypt to restore the internet and the social networking sites but it appears the country's leader is ignoring any requests. Also people referring to the internet to do business and carry-on business has been disrupted which could have devastating effects on the economy. PC Virus Doctors depend on the internet to perform computer repair and laptop repair on software systems and we would also be crippled if such events took place.

Scan PDF Files for Trojans and Other Malware

Scan .pdf files for trojans and other malware. The MSNBC story reports that Symantec found 36% of malicious code delivered came from .pdf documents. Once opened, the code injects itself into the operating system using Java script.

One of the most damaging attacks using .pdf documents is Zeus which hides until users go to their bank accounts. Zeus then records all the banking information, after the banking session, Zeus then has money forwarded from the bank account to the cybercriminal.

*To scan .pdf files users should be able to right click the file and then scan it with an antivirus or anti-malware program to check for infections.

Stuxnet- Worm Dissected

Stuxnet, the computer worm damaging Iran's Nuclear Facility, is being dissected and is still amazing in its stealth and ingenous abilities according to the New York Times. The worm is reported to be a possible U.S. joint Israeli effort to derail or slow the Iranian nuclear ambition to create a nuclear bomb that Iran maintains is false. The Time reports that the digital trail appears to trace across several continents with which appears to have several authors contributing to Stuxnet.

Siemens, a German industrial manufacturer, allegedly manufactured the machines the Iranian's are using to develop nuclear energy. Idaho Naltional Laboratories, a United States Energy Department firm, appears to have examined the computer controllers of the Siemens' machines where it is speculated that they identified some hard to find holes that may have been exploited for use with the Stuxnet worm.

The Iranian's, according the the Times areticle, are trying to create nuclear facilities similar to Israel's who has continued to deny it has nuclear weapons.

Apparently 1/5 of Iran's Nuke facility has been damaged or destroyed by the stuxnet worm. Dallas Computer and Laptop Repair is concerned about such destruction but it appears to be isolated only to Siemens machine controllers and not other hardware distributed by other desktop or laptop manufacturers such as Dell.

Dallas Computer Repair is amazed at times with the amount of temporary files that are left on drives,
Get rid of that crap by going to temporary file cleanups and delete the trash. Download Ccleaner to help. Freeing up non-needed or no-used files and folders will help speed up the computer and less clutter that the computer has to keep up with.

Deleting old restore points can free up as much as 20 gigabytes of data that PC Virus Doctors' Dallas PC Repair sees in many desktops and laptops that are over 3 years old.
